Jean-Louis Triaud, president of Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, has rubbished talk that his club are set to sign out-of-favour Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh.

Chamakh, who did not appear in a single league match for Arsenal this season, was loaned out to neighbours West Ham United during the January transfer window. In his four-month stay at Upton Park, however, he has only made two starts.

Chamakh, understably, wants a move away from the Emirates Stadium as he chases regular first team football, and a transfer to former side Bordeaux had been claimed to be imminent.

But the French club’s supremo has moved to deny the claims, saying that neither player nor his agent have made any effort to contact the club.

"I can recall in our past conversation that either the player or his agent would pick up the phone and call me [should a transfer be viable]. So far, that has not happened", Triaud was quoted as saying by Calcio Mercato.

Chamakh’s contract with Arsenal sees him tied at the Emirates Stadium until the end of next season.
