Highly-rated Valencia defender Adil Rami has fired the starting gun on the race for his services this summer by admitting there is a "60% chance" he could depart the Mestalla.

The 27-year-old, who has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United in England, while Roma and Inter are keen on tempting the France international to Italy, admitted in April that he felt he needed a move to a bigger club than Los Che.

And with Valencia having always been in need of a financial boost in recent years, along with contract issues, the road to Rami’s departure this summer could be smoothed.

"The the club made a proposal that I extend [my contract], which was interesting, but I refused", Rami told French sports daily L’Equipe.

"There is a 60% chance that I leave.

"The club must also be in doubt too as they enquired about [Aurelien] Chedjou and Lyon’s [Dejan] Lovren."

And the centre-back admits that, especially on the front of his Italian suitors, "there are contacts".

Rami’s current contract with La Liga giants Valencia, who he joined from Ligue 1 outfit Lille, runs until 2015.
