Monaco’s lofty ambitions for their Ligue 1 return mean their sights are set once again on the city of Manchester, this time on the red half, eyeing Portuguese winger Nani from Old Trafford, according to L’Equipe.

The principality club have been on a spending spree this summer, and had been linked with Manchester City frontman Carlos Tevez, a claim denied by Monaco’s sporting director Vadim Vasilyev.

But having already signed the likes of Radamel Falcao, Ricardo Carvalho, Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, the newly promoted side are believed to be on the trail of Nani, who has seen his game time limited this season.

The 26-year-old had shown promise in his early years, following his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in 2007, but competition for places at the Premier League champions has not been lacking.
