Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has provided a sneak peek into new manager Rafael Benitez’s transfer priorities this summer.

De Laurentiis appointed Benitez recently, upon the Spaniard’s departure from Chelsea, and has promised to back him in the transfer market.

With Edinson Cavani a possible departure, a replacement will be needed, but until a move materialises, Benitez has other ideas, De Laurentiis has explained to Radio Marte.

"At this time, the priorities are those of a defender, with the departure of [Hugo] Campagnaro and a midfielder, because to play the way Benitez wants we need new players.

"We need second forward, we are looking at people but I cannot say anything in order to prevent the prices from rising."

Napoli’s transfer policy remains likely to be largely dictated by whether Edinson Cavani stays or goes this summer.

De Laurentiis has promised to only sell the Uruguayan for his €63m release clause and has pledged all that money will be reinvested.
