Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has taken time out to speak about his transfer regrets, the players he was close to bringing to the Bernabeu but ultimately did not.

And the Spanish club’s supremo has listed an array of talents who could, in another life, have worn the Real Madrid shirt.

"I wanted to sign Francesco Totti. He is a great player and I can say that, in a sense, it is a missed dream", he explained to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

"And I can say the same for Patrick Vieira", he added.

Perez also revealed a player he let move to Barcelona and signed David Beckham instead.

"We had doubts about Ronaldinho and then he finally ended up at Barcelona, and we chose Beckham."

Recently, Real Madrid missed out on another player to Barcelona – Neymar. But Perez does not hold any grudges.

"He is a great player and I wish him success with Barcelona", he said.
