Kevin Strootman’s agent has admitted that Napoli are indeed serious over signing his client from PSV Eindhoven this summer.

The midfielder, who has been with Holland Under-21s for their European Under-21 Championship campaign in Israel of late, has a legion of admirers.

From England, Manchester United lead the chase, while Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also seen their names associated with the all-action midfielder.

But at present it is Napoli, under new coach Rafael Benitez, who are pushing the hardest to wrap up a deal for Strootman.

"Napoli’s interest is indeed serious and the club have been in touch with us", the Dutchman’s agent Chiel Dekker told Voetbal International.

However, Dekker gave Strootman’s Premier League suitors a boost by confirming that England remains the player’s preferred destination when all is said and done.

"Kevin has never made a secret of the fact that he prefers the Premier League", explained Dekker.

Strootman helped PSV Eindhoven finish as runners-up in this season’s Dutch Eredivisie, seven points behind champions Ajax, this despite the team tallying over 100 goals from 34 games.

In Israel, the midfielder’s Jong Oranje were knocked out at the semi-final stage by Italy Under-21s.
