La Liga side Malaga are keen on Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, according to Danish daily BT.

It is believed that German tactician Bernd Schuster, who was appointed as the new manager of the Anchovies last week, has given his approval for the Spanish side to work to bring Bendtner to the club.

Bendtner’s contract at the Emirates Stadium runs until June 2014. He has been with the Gunners since 2004 as a youth player, and subsequently broke into the first team in the following year.

He has spent season-long loan spells at Birmingham City, Sunderland as well as Juventus.

Although he bagged a Serie A title with the Old Lady last season, he described the entire campaign as “horrific” for him. He clocked up just nine Serie A appearances under head coach Antonio Conte, and his season was also plagued by injuries.

Bendtner has consistently said that he is willing to leave the Gunners permanently – a club at which he has made a total of 157 appearances, over five seasons, scoring 45 times.

He has also revealed that he is in talks with five or six clubs.

The Anchovies, under present Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, finished fifth in La Liga last season.

However, they are barred from playing in the Europa League in the 2013/14 season, following an order from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
