Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s much-awaited transfer away from Saint-Etienne has taken a huge step forward with news that his club are keen to finalise the sale as soon as possible, according to L’Equipe.

Aubameyang, who bagged an incredible 19 goals and 14 assists in the league for Saint-Etienne this season, has been the target of almost every high-profile club in Europe.



Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco have been making the headlines in relation to Aubameyang for many months.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen were the biggest names from the Bundesliga that joined the race, with the striker himself having indicated it was a choice between England and Germany.

And it is understood that Saint-Etienne have slapped a €15m price tag on the 24-year-old, who only joined the club permanently in the January transfer window last year.

His displays in the 37 league games for Saint-Etienne have been the catalyst for his transfer speculation, while he also helped the club win the Coupe de la Ligue.

It is understood that Leverkusen are unwilling to go as high as Saint-Etienne’s asking price, despite additional interest from Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala, leaving the field wide open for the striker’s suitors.

Aubameyang has impressed on the international stage for Gabon, with 28 caps and nine goals since his debut in 2009.
