Ligue 1 principality club Monaco have joined the chase to sign Lyon centre-forward Bafetimbi Gomis, according to French daily Le Progres.

Gomis, 27, clocked up a total of 40 appearances for Lyon during the 2012/13 campaign, scoring no less than 20 goals along the way. But despite the commanding performance, the club are thinking about selling their striker, alerting his suitors.

Newly-promoted side Cardiff City are already hotly in pursuit of the French international, while London giants Chelsea as well as Merseyside top guns Liverpool have long been tipped to be interested in bringing Gomis to their respective home grounds.

And joining that list are big-money side Monaco, who have already had their fair share of the transfer market action in recent weeks, reeling in the likes of FC Porto’s James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho as well as Atletico Madrid’s highly-prized striker Radamel Falcao to the Stade Louis II.
