Liverpool outcast Oussama Assaidi could be set for a return to the Eredivisie with Feyenoord appearing interested in the Moroccan after a disappointing season with the Reds.

According to Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad, Assaidi has been targeted by Feyenoord to shore up their flanks, with the 24-year-old having previous experience of Holland with SC Heerenveen and Almere City.

Assaidi had moved to Liverpool last year from Heerenveen but managed just four Premier League appearances – all from the bench – without scoring a single goal.

He fared only slightly better in the Europa League with four starts out of six games, but has vowed to prove his mettle further at Anfield.

Feyenoord are understood to be keen on a loan spell for Assaidi, with financial constraints ruling out a permanent capture for the moment.

Reports of Liverpool attempting to sell the winger had surfaced in February, even as the player keeps hope that he will be given more chances in the new season.

Assaidi had made appearances for Holland’s Under-20 side, but has since switched his allegiance to the country of his birth in Morocco.

His national tally stands at 13 games for Morocco, with two of those coming in the African Cup of Nations.

His three-year stay with Heerenveen saw him play 93 games in the Eredivisie, while he clocked 22 goals as well.
