Brazil international Bernard has moved a step closer to Portuguese giants FC Porto, according to a source close to the player, with Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Shakhtar Donetsk cooling their interest due to Atletico Mineiro’s asking price.

Bernard shone at the recently concluded Confederations Cup and more is expected from the 20-year-old, whose talent has been described as "considerable".

Signing Bernard, who has won five senior caps for Brazil, will not be a cheap operation though, with Atletico Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil wanting €25m for the schemer.

German giants Borussia Dortmund bid €16m for the player and have refused to increase that offer, while Tottenham’s €23m bid was also rejected.

Shakhtar Donetsk have expressed an interest, but look unwilling to pay €25m, leaving the door open for Porto.

"Negotiations with Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham have cooled due to Bernard’s high asking price", Adriano Spadoto told Brazilian daily O Tempo.

"He won’t go to one of these clubs.

"Shakhtar Donetsk have not sent any proposal. There is nothing from them.

"Porto are the most likely destination for Bernard.

"I believe that Bernard will leave Atletico after the Copa Libertadores and the official announcement will come from Alexandre Kalil", he concluded.
