KV Kortrijk striker Ernest N’For has been sacked by his club for physically and verbally threatening both CEO Patrick Turcq and manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck during a training session.

N’For had reportedly been gunning for a move to Azerbaijani outfit Neftchi Baku, but is alleged to have quoted a transfer price well below Kortrijk’s expectation, which could have scuppered the deal.

The forward’s bizarre response was to physically and verbally hurt Turcq and Vanhaezebrouck, and the 27-year-old was yesterday dismissed from the club, and could also face police action.

"There was no way back for him", Turcq told Het Laatste Nieuws. "I have made a complaint to the police about this.

"He grabbed me by the throat and both me and my family were threatened with death. N’For was kindled with blind rage. It’s something that I’ve never experienced before in my life.

"It was about his transfer to Neftchi Baku where he was hoping to go. He quoted himself a transfer price that was less than half of what I had agreed with Bergen or even Waasland-Beveren [clubs who were also interested in N’For].

"I told him that Baku then had to contact me, but to that end I never heard anything. This decision [to sack him] was taken by the entire board. We decided that his actions were unacceptable."

In response, N’For took to his Facebook page to express his frustrations, writing: "Football is the most thankless world that exists. Today you’re a star, but if you are not needed, you’ll be treated like a bandit."
