Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has spoken about his side’s capture of striker David Villa from Barcelona.

Last season’s Copa del Rey winners have tied up a deal for Villa which will see Barcelona pocket a total of €5.1m from Atletico Madrid, plus 50% of any future transfer fee for the 31-year-old.

Atletico Madrid beat Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina to Villa, who arrives at the Vicente Calderon as a replacement for Radamel Falcao, who was sold to Monaco earlier this summer.

And Cerezo is delighted with the deal his side have managed to do.

"It is not easy to replicate Falcao’s goals, but Villa is a good replacement", he told Radio Nacional de Espana.

"He has many seasons left in him and he is a natural born goalscorer.

"We expect that he’s going to score many goals. We paid the lowest price possible and we’re very happy with that."
