Galatasaray football agent Ceylan Caliskan has revealed that Didier Drogba turned down the chance to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea because he wishes to stay at the Turk Telekom Arena.

Caliskan was involved in the deal which took Drogba to Galatasaray earlier this year, with the Chelsea icon helping the Turkish side to retain their Super Lig crown and make a splash in the Champions League.

Drogba has cut a happy figure in Istanbul, but Caliskan has explained Mourinho wanted to bring the Ivorian striker to Stamford Bridge, linking up with the Portuguese for his own second spell.

"He said he wanted to see him at Chelsea", Caliskan told Turkish sports daily Fanatik.

"But Drogba, who loves Galatasaray, turned down the offer and is certainly not considering leaving."

Drogba signed off his Chelsea association style last summer, helping the club to win the Champions League by beating Bayern Munich in Germany.

He at first moved to China, enjoying a brief spell with Shanghai Shenhua, before heading to Turkey and Galatasaray.

The powerful Ivorian remains a legend at Stamford Bridge, having scored prolifically and helped the Blues carve out their spot as one of Europe’s top clubs.
