Roma are ready to launch another raid on the Eredivisie before the ink is even dry on Kevin Strootman’s contract.

The capital club are closing on completing a €20m deal for Strootman, which will see the in-demand Holland midfielder swap PSV Eindhoven’s Philips Stadion for Roma’s Stadio Olimpico.

But the Giallorossi, who finished sixth in Serie A last season, are not about to stop there.

According to Italian daily Il Tempo, Roma will next set their sights on Ajax schemer Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark playmaker has been strongly linked with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool this summer, although the former have captured Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk, ending their need for Eriksen, while ironically increasing the latter’s need for the talent.

Roma believe that Eriksen, with a contract that is due to expire next summer, can be picked up for around €7m.

That would represent a coup and the Giallorossi will be likely to face competition for the midfielder at that price point, given his stock and potential.

Roma are thought to be eyeing Eriksen as a replacement for Miralem Pjanic, who is expected to be sold to an English side this summer.
