David Moyes has brushed off losing his first game as Manchester United manager, pointing out that the encounter against the Singha All Stars was only a pre-season clash.

The match marked Moyes’ first as Manchester United boss since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford. In an encounter devoid of too much action, the Singha All Stars came out on top, winning 1-0 in Bangkok.

Moyes was instantly asked whether the defeat was a bad sign for the rest of his time at the Red Devils, but he brushed off any such thoughts.

"I hope not! If I’m going to lose any games I’m happy to lose these ones. It’s pre-season", Moyes said to MUTV.

"We missed a couple of chances at the end which may well have got us something out of the game but the important thing is we got a few of the players through 90 minutes", he continued.

"It was a really good fitness workout – anyone who was watching [in the stadium] tonight will tell you that, as it was very warm. So I was pleased with that."

Next up Manchester United move on to Australia, where they will meet the A-League All Stars before games in Japan, Hong Kong and Stockholm.

The Red Devils are at present without Wayne Rooney, who has been sent home from the tour with a hamstring problem.
