Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has revealed that the Bundesliga side pushed to sign Kurt Zouma from Saint-Etienne, but the French outfit will not budge on their no-sale stance.

Zouma has attracted much attention this summer, with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund joining the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid in holding a keen interest in the defensive wunderkind.

Wolfsburg too wanted to sign the 18-year-old, who was in action at this summer’s Under-20 World Cup.

But following the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Saint-Etienne are in a good position to resist Zouma’s departure.

And Allofs explains that is just what they have done.

"We negotiated, but he will not move this year", the sporting director told Kicker.

"We were in a good [negotiating] position. I personally spoke to him", Allofs added.

Saint-Etienne will now look to ward off any further moves for Zouma this summer, as they aim to ensure the centre-back’s services for the 2013/14 Ligue 1 campaign.
