Paris Saint-Germain defender Mamadou Sakho is ready to leave the French champions before the transfer window slams shut, if he feels he is not going to receive regular playing time.

Sakho is being courted by both Liverpool and Monaco, but the centre-back’s preference is to remain at the Parc des Princes if he is consistently selected in the club’s starting eleven.

But, with Thiago Silva staying put at the club and PSG signing Marquinhos from Roma for around €35m, the jury is out on just how involved Sakho will be in 2013/14.

And in a World Cup year, that is crucial for the 23-year-old.

Now, according to Mercato365, Sakho has decided to wait until PSG’s first few games of the season to judge the situation.

If Sakho then feels he is not a first choice pick, he will open the door to a departure before the transfer window slams shut.

PSG’s Ligue 1 fixtures before the end of August are Montpellier (away), Ajaccio (home), Nantes (away) and Guingamp (home)
