Serie A side Napoli may turn their attention to Liverpool custodian Pepe Reina after becoming tired of waiting to sign Julio Cesar, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

Brazilian Cesar, who is currently with relegated Premier League club Queens Park Rangers, has experience of playing in the Italian league with Inter Milan.

The Naples-based club are set to issue an ultimatum to Cesar and if he fails to arrive by that time, Napoli will look elsewhere for a goalkeeper.

Reina, who played under current Napoli boss Rafael Benitez for five years at Liverpool, is now in the Italian club’s sights.

The Liverpool custodian shares the same agent with Benitez, a factor which may help to smooth the deal if Napoli do launch a swoop for the Spain shot-stopper.

Napoli have already roped in Reina’s compatriots Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon from Real Madrid this summer, while Dries Mertens has landed from PSV Eindhoven.

Reina has also been linked with Barcelona in the current transfer window; Liverpool meanwhile signed Belgium goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to provide the Spaniard with competition.
