Atletico Mineiro winger Bernard is set to have a medial with Arsenal on Friday ahead of a big money move to the Gunners.
The talented Brazil international, who turned out at this summer’s Confederations Cup with Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men, is poised to pen a five-year contract with Arsenal which will see him earn around €3m net per year, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.
Securing the signature of Bernard would be seen as a big coup for Arsene Wenger’s men.
The winger was chased by the Gunners’ rivals Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer, while Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Porto have been keen on securing his services. However, he was dubbed too expensive for many of his suitors and it remains to be seen how much Arsenal will have paid to sign the starlet.
His arrival could also mark the start of a spending spree for Arsenal, who have so far been frustrated in their attempts to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid and Luis Suarez from Liverpool.
The 20-year-old is a product of Atletico Mineiro’s youth academy and has long had his potential to reach the top of the game signposted.
At international level he has won five caps for Brazil.
