Chelsea youngster Nathan Ake is set for talks with manager Jose Mourinho over his future, as a loan spell away from the club rears its head with three English teams in the mix.

Ake, who joined Chelsea from Feyenoord on a youth deal in 2011 and made three Premier League appearances last season – two from the bench – is not part of the club’s pre-season tour.

However, his agent believes Ake still has a role to play at Stamford Bridge, amid talk that Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem are joined by Fulham, Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough in eyeing a loan move for the 18-year-old.

"While he is still a youth player, Nathan has a lot of support within the club", agent Revien Kanhai told NUSport. "They are very pleased with him.

"When Chelsea return from Asia there will be a meeting with Mourinho to follow. It was a bit of a disappointment [that he wasn’t on the Asia tour squad], but that was due to him being very busy.

"Players like [John Obi] Mikel, Ramires, [Michael] Essien, [Frank] Lampard, [Nathaniel] Chalobah, [Marco] Van Ginkel and [Josh] McEachran were preferred based on experience and age, but that does not mean that Nathan has missed the boat.

"Chelsea have clearly communicated that Mourinho will soon see him."

However, the loan option will always remain on the table should Chelsea deem him surplus to requirements for the present, and Kanhai is not one to turn it down.

"The [Vitesse link] was just a myth", Kanhai added. "He prefers an English club. Clubs like Fulham, Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic have been informed.

"But for now [a loan] is not being addressed. If he is loaned, it will be only to a club whose trainer ensures that he is going to play."
