Didier Drogba continued to be Arsenal’s nemesis yesterday as his late brace helped Galatasaray to defeat the Gunners 2-1 and lift the Emirates Cup as a result.

Arsenal started brightly and their new signing Yaya Sanogo had a couple of decent chances to put his side in the lead, however, goalkeeper Fernando Muslera thwarted both efforts.

Five minutes before half-time, the Premier League outfit did take the lead through Theo Walcott, as the England international’s cross from the left floated into the back of the net with Muslera stranded.

The Turkish club introduced Drogba and Wesley Sneijder after the break and both were instrumental in turning the game in Galatasaray’s favour.

Drogba equalised for his side in the 79th minute from a spot-kick after Ignasi Miquel was adjudged to have bundled over the Ivory Coast international inside the area.

The former Chelsea striker then latched onto a through ball from Sneijder, beat Per Mertesacker with an excellent first touch and fired the ball into the top-right corner to score the dramatic late winner, with only a couple of minutes remaining.
