If The Club Want Me I’ll Be Here – Atletico Madrid Striker Diego Costa Plays Down Liverpool Move Talk

Tuesday, 6th August, 2013

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is happy with the Spanish side, he has insisted, amid talk of a concrete offer from English Premier League outfit Liverpool.

The Reds, who are battling to keep hold of Luis Suarez due to their now four-year absence from the Champions League, are thought to have identified Costa as a potential addition.

In England it was suggested Liverpool had bid €25m for the Brazilian, activating his release clause, but Atletico Madrid have denied receiving an offer.

And Costa has explained that he is happy to be with Diego Simeone’s side, who will compete in the Champions League this season after finishing third in La Liga last term.

"I do not know [about a move], I am good here, I am happy", Costa was quoted as saying from the club’s South American tour.

"In Argentina and in Uruguay I have not heard anything on this subject.

"If the club want me to be here, then I’ll be there."

Costa helped Atletico Madrid to win the Copa del Rey last season, ending the club’s long losing streak against fierce rivals Real Madrid in the final.

Atletico Madrid have lost Radamel Falcao this summer, but brought in Leo Baptistao from Rayo Vallecano and David Villa from Barcelona to bolster their attacking options.
