Marseille are readying a new offer for Sporting Lisbon winger Diego Capel.

The Spaniard has been consistently linked with the French giants this summer, while English outfit Liverpool are thought to be monitoring developments in Lisbon.

Marseille have seen offers of €3.5m and €4m rejected by Sporting Lisbon, who have slapped a €7m asking price on Capel's head.

Now, according to Portuguese daily A Bola, Elie Baup's men are set to return with a fresh bid, of €5m.

Sporting Lisbon have suffered financial difficulties in recent months and it remains to be seen whether a bid of €5m can be resisted.

The Portuguese giants are likely to hope for Capel's other suitors, chiefly Liverpool, to become involved in the hope of pushing up the winger's eventual sale price.

The 25-year-old joined Sporting Lisbon from La Liga club Sevilla in 2011, penning a five-year contract with a release clause set at €30m, a sign of just how highly the capital club rated their new purchase.

Capel has been capped twice by Spain at international level.
