Zenit Consider Alessandro Matri Swoop After Juventus Open Door

Sunday, 11th August, 2013

Juventus have offered Zenit St. Petersburg the chance to buy striker Alessandro Matri – and the Russian giants are considering making a bid for the Italian.

Zenit were interested in Matri earlier this summer, but with Juventus quoting a price tag of €15m, the Russians were less than keen to do a deal for the former Cagliari man.

However, according to Russian daily Izvestia, Juventus have indicated that €10m would be an acceptable fee and Zenit are back in the game.

Matri faces tough competition for a starting spot in Turin, with Juventus having signed Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez this summer.

"I don't rule out that my client could move to another club", said Matri's agent Tulio Tinti.

"Yes, Alessandro has strong interest from Russia. Also we have a lot of options for continuing in Italy. In this case, the priority for Matri is to have a chance to gain a foothold at Juventus."

Matri has been linked with a whole host of clubs this summer, including Liverpool, Everton, Schalke and Arsenal.
