Nantes are in danger of making the worst possible start to their Ligue 1 return after Bastia filed a complaint that could see them lose their three points from match-day one.

Bastia lodged a request with the French league's (LFP) legal department alleging that Nantes had used an ineligible player against them in midfielder Abdoulaye Toure.

It is understood that Toure's time playing for Nantes' Under-19 team in France's fifth tier had seen him pick up a number of yellow cards that could rule him as suspended from Ligue 1 as well.

However, Toure came on as a 67th-minute substitute against Bastia on 10th August at the Stade de la Beaujoire, as hosts Nantes went on to win 2-0.

A statement on Bastia's website read: "Sporting Club de Bastia can confirm they have challenged, before the appropriate committee, the participation of Abdoulaye Toure, who came on in the 67th minute in the match…between FC Nantes and SC Bastia."

Nantes secured their Ligue 1 return last season by finishing third in the second division, just a point behind EA Guingamp.

Toure is a France Under-18 international with five caps and has spent all his domestic career with Les Canaris.
