Defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are setting their ambitions high as they look set to launch a bid for Barcelona's midfield maestro Andres Iniesta.

Iniesta, a product of Barcelona's youth academy, has been with the Camp Nou giants since 2001, playing for the club's "B" side before making his debut with the senior team the year after.

The 29-year-old Spanish international is considered one of the more iconic players in the Barcelona squad, alongside the likes of fellow stalwarts Xavi Hernandez and Carles Puyol.

But now it appears that PSG have plans to take away Iniesta from Spain and bring him to France. Indeed, according to Le 10 Sport, the Parisian giants will try to lure the midfielder by offering him a substantial salary increase, among other incentives, something Barcelona could not offer under their rigid wage structure.

The audacious bid, however, will be likely rebuffed by the Blaugrana top brass, especially after their own bid for PSG defender Thiago Silva was been rejected.

Iniesta has been a one-club man for the past twelve years, playing in a total 457 appearances and counting for the Blaugrana senior team, scoring 47 goals along the way.

Iniesta's current contract is set to expire in 2015.
