Dutch Eredivisie outfit NEC have secured the services of young right-back Marnick Vermijl from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old will join NEC for the current campaign, with the English champions having the option of taking him back to Old Trafford in January 2014 if they so desire.

Vermijl joined Manchester United from Belgian outfit Standard Liege in 2010.

The Belgium Under-21 defender made his senior debut for the English giants last year, appearing in the League Cup against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

However, first team opportunities are rare at Manchester United and, with the club eager to see Vermijl develop through regular first team action, are allowing him to join NEC, according to Sportwereld.

Vermijl has long had his talent signposted and it was considered a coup for Manchester United to scoop him up from Standard Liege.

The defender has represented his country from Under-17 level through to the Under-21 ranks.
