Liverpool are two thirds of the way there in concluding their transfer dealings for the summer with confirmation of Mamadou Sakho's arrival.

Sakho became embroiled in some controversy back at Paris Saint-Germain when he refused to sign a contract extension amid interest from AC Milan.

He wanted a full transfer, but PSG only wanted him to leave on loan and pen a long-term extension.

Instead, Liverpool have now snapped him up on a long-term deal themselves, with PSG coach Laurent Blanc having already given him his blessing.

The Reds confirmed Tiago Ilori's signing earlier in the day without revealing the contract's timeframe and have now done the same for Sakho.

"I'm really looking forward to cracking on with work and I can't wait to get on pitch", Sakho told Liverpool's official website.

"I know the Liverpool fans are fantastic and while I was in France, it was clear for me to see they are amongst the best in England.

"I came here because the project that is in place at Liverpool interests me. I'm really looking forward to playing my first game."

Liverpool are now expected to confirm the signing of Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea, completing formalities for the trio who watched yesterday's 1-0 win over Manchester United from the stands at Anfield.
