Manchester United have ended any notion of transfer speculation this summer around Nani by confirming a new five-year contract for the winger.

Nani became the centre of rumours in previous months when clubs such as Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Roma took an interest.

With his contract then set to expire in 2014, and game time a little on the low side, it was unsurprising that Nani was being tipped to leave Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils have now tied him down to a fresh deal, meaning he will continue at the club until 2018.

"Playing at United has been a fantastic experience for me", Nani told the club's website. "I'm very happy that the new manager has shown this faith in me

"When I came to the club, I never imagined the success we have enjoyed. Training every day with top players who want to win trophies every year is a great motivation to me.

"I'm looking forward to helping the team compete for more honours this season."

Manager David Moyes, who endured a troubling transfer window, also expressed his satisfaction at committing the multiple-title winning player's services.

"He has great ability and experience beyond his 26 years", Moyes added. "I've been impressed with his approach to training and look forward to working with him in the coming seasons."
