Aston Villa winger Andreas Weimann believes that his team-mate Jores Okore’s positive attitude will see him through his lengthy injury layoff.

The Denmark international, who joined the Villains from FC Nordsjaelland during the summer transfer window, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during his side’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle United on Saturday and could be out for as long as nine months due to the injury.

And Weimann has admitted it will be tough for Okore, who he considers a “really good player”, but believes that the 21-year-old will come back stronger.

"Jores has come in and played really well. It's tough for him to be out for that length of time”, he explained to his club’s official site.

"He's a really nice guy and a really good player.

"I know he will bounce back and return stronger than before but for the next while, of course, it will be tough.

"He has a very positive attitude though, so this will get him through.”

The Austrian further added that Claret and Blue defenders Ciaran Clark and Nathan Baker have the qualities and abilities to cover Okore’s absence.

"Ciaran came in on Saturday when Jores went off and I thought he looked good. He looks at ease at this level because he's been involved now for several seasons”, Weimann added.

"Remember, he's played plenty of games over the past few seasons and he's growing in confidence.

"Nathan is just a real defender. He loves a tackle. He loves a battle. He will put his body on the line for the team.”
