Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho was at the Parc des Princes for Paris Saint-Germain's 1-1 Ligue 1 draw against Monaco last night in order to bid farewell to the Paris club's supporters, and hinted at a possible future return.

Sakho, a boyhood PSG fan and a product of the club's youth system, opted to end his time with the French champions earlier this summer when he moved to Liverpool.

The defender had slipped down the pecking order at PSG and came to believe regular first team football was needed in order to cement a spot in Didier Deschamps' France squad for the 2014 World Cup.

But Sakho was determined to bid a proper farewell to the PSG faithful, having been deprived of the opportunity when he made a speedy switch to Anfield on transfer deadline day.

"I am very proud to come back here", Sakho said.

"I remember when I was young and I was up there in the stands. I walked onto the pitch with pride.

"I have now turned a page.

"This is my town, I am at home. I wish the best for the club and its exceptional supporters.

"I have just one phrase: The story is not over."
