Paul Lambert was pleased after Aston Villa managed to keep their first clean sheet of the Premier League campaign in the club’s 1-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday, but has insisted that the Villains will continue to be an attacking unit as wins are more important to him than not conceding goals.

Prior to Saturday’s fixture, the Claret and Blue had conceded six goals in four league games and the manager stated that his side have worked extremely hard to successfully change the trend against the Canaries.

But Lambert has revealed that the Villains have the personnel to create a lot of goalscoring opportunities and will hence not play defensively, while also underlining the importance of keeping clean sheets.

"I'd rather go and win a game than sit back and people coming at us all the time”, he explained to his club’s official site.

"We try to play attacking football and if we can get a goal more than the other team then I'll take it.

"It's great for the back lads to get a clean sheet. They've worked ever so hard for it and they're delighted.

"I'm bothered about keeping clean sheets, I want to do that, but I also want to give it a go and go and try and win games.

"The players I've got in the side illustrate that. We've got really quick lads who will create chances.

"Every time I've been with Aston Villa our team always creates things and always has a chance."

Aston Villa’s win against Norwich was the club’s first since their opening day triumph against Arsenal; the Villains are now 13th in the Premier League with six points from five matches.
