United States international Michael Bradley was never in any danger of leaving Roma this summer despite a fair few requests from other clubs, according to his agent.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Bradley became linked with a move back to the Premier League, as Sunderland were understood to have lined up a bid.

The efforts did not eventually materialise, and now it has emerged that Roma were the ones to stamp out any and all attempts at getting their 26-year-old.

Bradley is currently recovering from an ankle injury, while his agent Alberto Faccini today told radio station Centro Suono Sport: "He has never been on the market.

"There were a few requests, but Roma refused all. He also decided to stay because he feels very good within the group.

"Michael is recovering from his injury and things are going well. He is very happy. Roma are playing well, and let's see how they do against the toughest opponents."

Bradley's injury came during warm-up for a World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica, and he has been stuck on just two Serie A appearances so far this season.

He spent half-a-season on loan at Aston Villa – when contracted at Borussia Monchengladbach – and made four appearances for the midlands side.

The defensive midfielder joined Roma from Chievo last year, and played 30 times in the league in 2012/13.
