Lucas Leiva is determined to put in impressive displays for Brazil in the nation’s upcoming friendly matches against South Korea and Zambia.

The 26-year-old, who last represented the Selecao in November 2011, was recalled to the national squad for the friendlies by manager Luiz Felipe Scolari in late September, following the defensive midfielder’s good form in the current campaign for Liverpool.

And Lucas explained that it means a lot for him to represent Brazil again and stated that he will work hard not only in matches but also in training to fully utilise the chance, which he wanted.

"It means so much to be involved again with Brazil. It's the chance that I've wanted”, he was quoted as saying by Liverpool’s official site.

"I know I will be tested over these friendly games but it's up to me now.

“I have to ensure that if I play, I produce good performances in those two games.

"But it's not just about the matches, even in training sessions and off the pitch when I am around the squad I have to be a good person and be involved with the group."

Lucas, who has 20 caps for Brazil to his name, will be hoping to cement his place in the Brazilian squad for the 2014 World Cup in his homeland.
