Chelsea are continuing their scouting of Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula apace, with one of the Blues' scouts confirming that the English giants are indeed very taken with the 21-year-old.

News of Chelsea's interest in Imbula leaked out towards the end of last month, with the midfielder having instantly impressed at Marseille this term.

Imbula only joined Marseille this summer, switching from Guingamp, who he helped gain promotion from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 last term.

Now Imbula is firmly on the radar at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea scout Guy Hillion has revealed.

"I have seen him often", Hillion explained to Le 10 Sport.

"As soon as he gets the ball he is able to accelerate and break through the lines.

"He covers well, has good technique, great vision of the game, with a very good quality pass and a great left foot.

"He doesn't have bad qualities for a midfielder."

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will launch a bid for Imbula and when any such offer might arrive.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is currently well stocked for midfield options and is struggling to crowbar his many talents into his matchday squad.
