Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has tipped his hat to Atletico Madrid custodian Thibaut Courtois, as speculation over the Catalans making a bid for the Chelsea contracted man picks up pace.

The Camp Nou giants will lose goalkeeper Victor Valdes next summer, as the Spain international has vowed to look for a new challenge when his contract expires.

Barcelona are considering several options to replace the custodian, of which one is Courtois, now in the third consecutive year of a loan spell at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea.

And Rosell has admitted he is a fan of the Belgian.

"Courtois is a fantastic goalkeeper, he is very good", Rosell was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.

"I appreciate him enormously", the president added.

Chelsea are thought to be cool on selling Courtois to Barcelona, however the club's current number 1 Petr Cech shows little sign of slowing down.

Rosell has however indicated that he has not given up on persuading Valdes to remain.

"Until the last moment we will try to keep him, but that will be very difficult", he said.
