Alex Song has refused to rule out a potential return to Arsenal, explaining he will assess his future at Barcelona in January when the transfer window opens once again.

The Cameroonian midfielder joined Barcelona from Arsenal in the summer of 2012, but was used sparingly last season, a situation which has not improved in the current campaign.

Song considered exiting the Camp Nou this summer, but opted against such a move, in part due to advice from old boss Arsene Wenger.

And while he played all 90 minutes of Barcelona's 4-1 weekend La Liga win over Real Valladolid, scoring an impressive 100% pass completion rate in the process, the pattern is clear: Song is not a regular pick.

And that may need reflection, with a return to Arsenal not ruled out.

"At the moment it is okay, I played in the last game", he told French radio station RMC.

"There is plenty of time to decide about my future in January if I still do not play enough", Song continued.

"I'll see what to do. But until that time I'm focusing entirely on Barcelona.

"A return to Arsenal? Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow, but it is true that I had a great time there."

If Song does choose to leave he may have more than just Arsenal to choose from, with Manchester United mooted to be considering a move to acquire him, while from Italy there is interest from AC Milan and Inter.
