Chelsea are lining up a January move for Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, according to Turkish sports daily Fanatik.

The prolific hitman has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months and Galatasaray considered it a coup to keep him at the Turk Telekom Arena during the summer.

The most serious interest in Yilmaz came from Serie A outfit Lazio, but the Rome side were unable to tempt Galatasaray into selling.

Chelsea were recently handed encouragement on bidding for Yilmaz, with the club's president insisting he would not stand in the way of the striker heading to Stamford Bridge.

And it appears Galatasaray are already planning for life without the 28-year-old.

Indeed, Galatasaray's new coach Roberto Mancini is thought to be preparing a January offer for Real Madrid hitman Karim Benzema in the event Yilmaz should leave the club.

Yilmaz joined Galatasaray in 2012, making the move from Trabzonspor.
