Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has explained he feels as if he is currently one of the best five custodians in world football.

Courtois is under contract to English Premier League giants Chelsea, but is in his third consecutive season on loan at Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.

The former Genk man has enjoyed much success with Los Rojiblancos, winning the Copa del Rey, the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

He has been praised as one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga and even put on Barcelona's radar as a successor to Victor Valdes.

And Courtois is full of confidence.

"This is my best season ever and I feel like I'm one of the best five goalkeepers in the world", he told Voetbal International.

"I have developed myself well in Madrid, especially last season when we won the UEFA Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.

"During that year I made a lot of progress with my reflexes, speed and experience."
