Legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has highlighted the importance of a unified backroom staff in the quest for success in management.

Ferguson called time on a hugely successful 26-year spell in charge of Manchester United at the end of last season, leaving behind him a comprehensive backroom staff set-up at Old Trafford.

The 71-year-old's successor David Moyes parted company with assistant manager Mike Phelan, goalkeeping coach Eric Steele and first team coach Rene Meulensteen, bringing in his own backroom staff from former club Everton.

And Ferguson has stressed just how important a good backroom staff is and what qualities are needed.
