Arsenal and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan, despite the Turkey international only recently penning a contract extension at the Vicente Calderon.

According to Tutto Mercato, the English pair are keen on Turan and are each exploring a potential January offer to scoop him up from Diego Simeone's men.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool were linked with Turan in the summer, but Atletico Madrid managed to convince the winger to pen a new contract.

Simeone hailed that development as "huge" and is unlikely to want to part with the 26-year-old just six months later.

Turan has been a key man in Los Rojiblancos' rise to become La Liga title contenders and helped the club win last term's Copa del Rey.

The Istanbul-born talent has continued to contribute for Simeone's men so far this season, featuring in eight La Liga matches, with one goal and two assists to his name.

Turan has also scored twice in two Champions League matches, with a further assist thrown in for good measure.
