Galatasaray are preparing to offer Didier Drogba a new contract after the Ivorian striker informed the Turkish giants he is ready to continue playing into next season.

Drogba, who joined Galatasaray in January, will be 36 years old before the end of the current campaign and his present contract at the Turk Telekom Arena expires next summer.

But the former Chelsea striker is ready to play on and Galatasaray are keen to offer him a fresh deal.

Galatasaray president Unal Aysal told GSTV: "Didier Drogba has talked about his future and he will prolong his career as a player.

"I told him that he can play at Galatasaray as long as he is doing well.

"We will definitely come to offer him a new contract and I do not think he will reject our proposal."

Drogba helped Galatasaray win the Super Lig title last term, while this season he is powering the Turkish giants forward in the Champions League.

The striker scored in Galatasaray's 2-2 draw away at Juventus, while more recently he found the back of the net in the club's 3-1 home win over FC Copenhagen.
