Besiktas CEO Ahmet Nur Cebi has revealed that the Black Eagles are still interested in snaring Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Abebayor when the transfer window swings back open in January.

The Turkish giants have held an interest in the hitman over the last few months and, with Adebayor finding playing time hard to come by at White Hart Lane, have not lost sight of a swoop for the former Arsenal man.

Indeed, Nur Cebi has explained that Besiktas' interest in Adebayor has not died, with a new move to convince the Togolese to continue his career in Turkey on the horizon.

The Besiktas CEO was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato: "We were interested in Adebayor in August and we will make a new attempt in January.

"But it is hard to sign sought-after players on the market", he added, cautioning the club's faithful about being too hopeful.

The 29-year-old has yet to make an appearances for Spurs this season, as he has slipped well down the striking pecking order under manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Adebayor is under contract at White Hart Lane until the summer of 2015.
