Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that coach Jurgen Klopp has signed a contract extension with the club.

Klopp, along with his assistants Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz, has agreed a new deal with BVB which will keep the trio at the Westfalenstadion until 2018.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was happy after Klopp signed the contract extension as he feels that the 46-year-old is the “perfect” manager for his club.

"Jurgen stands for the further development of this team. He is the perfect coach for BVB", Zorc told his club’s official site.

The former Mainz 05 boss took charge of Dortmund in 2008 and has guided the club to two Bundesliga titles, a DFB-Pokal and a German Super Cup in addition to reaching last season’s Champions League final, where they lost 2-1 against fellow German side Bayern Munich.

Klopp’s side are currently second in the league standings with 25 points from 10 fixtures, a point and a place adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.
