In-demand Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler has stoked the transfer fires by admitting the wants to play European football.

The shot-stopper has been strongly placed on Liverpool's hit list, even though Hannover have done their best to warn off potential suitors.

But Zieler, who helped Hannover to a ninth place finish in last season's Bundesliga, has larger ambitions than simply finishing mid-table and has his eyes set on playing in Europe.

The custodian was quoted as telling Sky Deutschland: "I would love to play in European competition and establish myself at international level."

However Zieler, who is a former Manchester United youth player, sought to play down talk he is looking for an immediate move.

"At Hannover we have grown significantly in recent years and I feel very well", he said.

The 24-year-old has managed just two appearances for Germany at international level, though he has won a whole host of caps for the country at various youth levels.
