AC Milan are prepared to allow forward Stephan El Shaarawy to depart in January for the right price, with the 21-year-old having so far failed to build upon his impressive showing last term.

El Shaarawy has been linked with English Premier League giants Liverpool of late and the Reds may be alerted by Milan's willingness to cash in on the Italy international.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, the Rossoneri have stopped considering El Shaarawy untouchable and are willing to listen to generous offers for the forward.

The 21-year-old has missed time through injury this term, but even so has played just four times for Milan with a return of a single goal, coming in the Champions League.

With Mario Balotelli calling the shots up front and Milan struggling in Serie A, the Rossoneri are already planning for January reinforcements and El Shaarawy's sale could place further financial firepower at the club's disposal.

Last season El Shaarawy scored 16 goals in 37 Serie A games as Milan surged up the table to finish third and qualify for the Champions League.

El Shaarawy will be desperate to clock up regular playing time for the remainder of this season with the 2014 World Cup on the horizon.

The former Genoa man has so far won 10 caps for Italy, scoring once.
