Nicklas Bendtner has vowed to work hard and form himself into a machine in order to be the "perfect sale item" when the time comes to leave Arsenal.

The Denmark international was expected to depart the Gunners in the summer following two successive seasons away from the club on loan, at Sunderland and Juventus respectively.

But he surprisingly stayed put after boss Arsene Wenger blocked his sale; the French tactician had been unable to sign another striker before the closure of the summer transfer window.

Bendtner is still eyeing the exit door though and is working extra hard to make sure when the time comes he is a very attractive purchase for suitors.

"I train a lot more seriously today than I ever did at Arsenal", the 25-year-old explained to Danish daily Berlingske.

"For now I am going to build myself up, so I will be this powerful machine, the perfect sale item.

"I will start as strong as possible at my next club."

Bendtner previously used to head home from training at 1pm, but now he regularly sticks around until 4pm.

The striker has managed six appearances for Arsenal so far this season, although four of those have been from the bench.
