Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his side will head into the Merseyside derby against their fierce local rivals Everton after the international break with confidence.

The Reds have started the season strongly and are currently in second position in the league standings with 23 points from 11 games, just two points behind first-placed Arsenal.

Liverpool picked up their seventh league win of the season on Saturday, when they brushed aside Fulham 4-0 at Anfield.

And Rodgers feels that the Reds’ impressive start to the current campaign will boost his side’s confidence for the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on 23rd November.

However, the manager was quick to admit that he is hoping that his players return to Liverpool uninjured after their stints with their respective countries over the next fortnight.

“Now our focus goes straight away to the next game”, Rodgers explained to his club’s official site.

"Obviously there are internationals, so we hope that all the players come back fit and well.

"Hopefully we can take the confidence from today's [Saturday’s] performance, and seven wins out of 11 at the opening of the season. That gives us great confidence going into the game."
