Former Newcastle and Wolfsburg striker Obafemi Martins has revealed that he is looking to return to Europe from MLS side Seattle Sounders, amid interest from Galatasaray.

The Nigerian striker is dreaming of being involved at next summer's World Cup and misses the intensity of the European game, despite not classing himself as unhappy with Seattle.

Martins had played all his club football in Europe before inking a deal to sign for Seattle earlier this year – and he is growing restless to return.

"I love the United States, it is an extraordinary country", he told Calcio Mercato.

"The MLS is a growing league and for me the past few months have been the experience of a lifetime.

"Seattle are nice to me, especially their fans, and I am never without their support, but I am only 29 years old and here I feel a little 'out of the loop'.

"I would like to return to Europe, I would like to play in Turkey to try to win a place on the list of 23 for Nigeria for the World Cup, so I asked my agent Tekin Birnici to evaluate all the proposals."

Martins has been linked with Galatasaray, where coach Roberto Mancini is thought to be keen on scooping up the striker.
